For our album “I Have A Dream (It Feels Like Home)” we wrote a song called “Fell Apart” in which we positioned the “7 I Am’s” from the Gospel of John as an answer to situations in which we find ourselves having come to pieces. As I looked over my notes today I found this scribbled in my journal from a few months ago and thought I would put it up here for all of you.
7 “I Ams” for us, as a response to who Christ says He is.
He is The Bread of Life (John 6:35)
I am satisfied.
He is The Light of the World (John 8:12)
I do not walk in darkness.
He is The Gate (John 10:9)
I am welcomed in.
He is The Good Shepherd (John 10:11)
I am known. I am a sheep listening for the shepherd’s voice.
He is The Resurrection and the life (John 11:25)
I am dying yet I shall live. I am truly alive.
He is The Way, The Truth, The Life (John 14:6)
I am on the road before me. I am aware. I am alive in Him.
He is The True Vine (John 15:1)
I am but a branch, incapable of bearing fruit alone. I will abide.
